ICAR ADMISSION 2020 manages research and education in all aspects of agriculture including animal culture, horticulture, and fisheries across 101 ICAR institutes and 71 agricultural universities spread across the country. Established in 1929, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an independent body under the purview of the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

Formerly known as the Imperial Council of Agricultural Research, ICAR is one of the largest agricultural systems in the world.

Headquartered at Delhi, the ICAR co-ordinates, guides and manages research and education in all aspects of agriculture, including animal culture, horticulture, and fisheries across the country by way of 101 ICAR institutes and 71 agricultural universities spread across the country.

List of ICAR Courses and Seats
The ICAR does not directly provide undergraduate courses with the exception of deemed universities. The undergraduate courses are offered by various State Agricultural Universities and private colleges or universities that offer Agriculture courses. There are around 75 State Agricultural Universities, four deemed agricultural universities that offer agriculture as faculty.

Three types of entrance exams are conducted by ICAR, including All India Entrance Examinations for Admission to undergraduate (AIEEA UG), All India Entrance Examinations for Admission to post graduate (AIEEA PG) and All India Council Examination (AICE) for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) as well as Senior Research Fellowship (SRF).

While JRF exam is to qualify for PGs in the ICAR institutes, the AICE SRF PGS is for PhD doctoral programmes.

The AICE SRF PGS exams are usually conducted a month after the fellowship exams. In 2020, the AICE SRF PGS exam will be held on July 1.

ICAR Examination Pattern
The minimum qualification for UG courses (AIEEA UG) is passing class XII and for PG courses aspirants should possess a graduation degree in the required field. This exam tests an aspirant’s ability in subjects such as biological sciences, zoology, mathematics, agriculture, chemistry and physics.

The exam is conducted in two streams (physics, chemistry, biology) or (physics, chemistry, mathematics) with 60 questions in each subject (180 questions) totaling to 720 marks.

The AICE exam is a bit on the tougher side (as this exam is mostly for graduates and postgraduates) which is conducted for 800 marks (200 questions), 20 of which are from general knowledge and reasoning ability. Negative marking applies.

The numbers of seats available for courses in ICAR colleges are around 1,500 for UG and 450 seats for PG.

The fee structure varies from college to college and depending on its ranking and demand, ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh.

The fee structure is Rs 1,700 for General/OBC category and Rs 850 for the reserved categories

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR 2020) is an autonomous body responsible for co-ordinating agricultural education and research in India. It reports to the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture.[2] The Union Minister of Agriculture serves as its president.[3][4] It is the largest network of agricultural research and education institutes in the world.[5]

The Committee to Advise on Renovation and Rejuvenation of Higher Education (Yashpal Committee, 2009) has recommended setting up of a constitutional body — the National Commission for Higher Education and Research — which would be a unified supreme body to regulate all branches of higher education including agricultural education.[6] Presently, regulation of agricultural education is the mandate of ICAR, Veterinary Council of India (Veterinary sub-discipline) and Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (Forestry sub-discipline). ICAR 2020 RESULT AIEEA UG – Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) All India Entrance Examination (AIEEA) Under Graduate (UG) is the national level entrance exam for admission to UG agriculture, horticulture, forestry, community science, food nutrition and dietetics, sericulture, dairy technology, food technology, bio technology courses in and related courses in agricultural universities on 15% of the university seats (100% seats in few colleges too). AIEEA UG is conducted yearly by the National Testing Agency.
